***Official 2012 UC Berkeley Appeals Thread***

I got in on an appeal for fall 2012!

I sent my package on the very last day including:

- A letter of recommendation from my debate coach
- A letter of recommendation from a former employer
- An official letter from a psychological evaluator with my ADHD diagnosis.
- My letter appealing my case, explaining why Berkeley is my top choice.

My statistics:

SAT: 2400
ACT: 36
GPA: 2.9 [UW] 3.3 [UC]

Did anyone who got accepted from an appeal get an acceptance letter in the mail? I was accepted online but still didn't get any acceptance packet. Maybe they don't give them to us, kinda bummed. :/

Hey, have any transfer students heard back yet from their appeal? I know it's still early, but, I'm obsessed, what can I say lol.

And congrats to all the freshmen who got in! This is alot more promising than the UCLA appeals thread which, so far, only one person who posted on it was accepted :O (Which makes sense, since ALL UCLA lets you send is your letter- no proof or rec letters or anything. Bah UCLA, making it obvious you don't want to accept anyone off appeals, bah.)

So how exactly do appeals work? If you alteady knew Berkeley was a far reach and got denied, can you still go through with an appeal? If you go in for an appeal, does it lower your chances of getting in as a transfer?

Hey guys, i'm a senior this year who just got rejected from berkeley.. but plan to appeal this! Those of you who got in have any tips on what to write about or what admission officers are looking for? How many letter of recs did you guys submit? Anything would help! I know the reason I got rejected was because of my low SATs. I got the borderline supplement but was rejected anyway.. should I submit the same letter of rec because my english teacher wrote a really good one, or should i submit one written by my principal? Thanks!

Is it even worth it to appeal? It seemed like so many people here got reconsidered, but after reading a post elsewhere, it seems like I shouldn't even try? Can someone please help? Thanks.

I too, was rejected, and for the people who got accepted with their appeal letters, I have some questions in general and need help in making my letter as "effective" as possible

What majors are easiest to appeal. For example I was rejected as a ChemE (no surprise at Berkeley) but I'm appealing as an Environmental Science major. Can this help?
