mbird - congratulations on your choice and welcome to Cal! I hope you love it as much as I do. If you have more questions, ask.

ccbound: Are you asking about the new admit reception? If so, then they are important to attend to get info about Cal, meet other new admits, meet people hosting the event from Berkeley.

What is the difference between BA and BS degree? I noticed biology majors at CAL can not receive BS.

The cafeteria food sucks... How do you deal with it? How often do you eat out? Doesnt it burn a hole in your pocket?

man lemme tell yah, the weather's nice. It does get way colder than so cal in the winter, and the rain's more and more intense, but most of the time it's sunny, with a bit of wind. It's weird, because when it's a little colder, it's FREEZING in the shade, but absolutely perfect in the sun. really amazing. and when it's sunny...it's effing gorgeous, clear, no smog, maybe just a little bit of fog, or some lingering clouds....really....great daydreaming material. it can get chilly at night too.

I am an incoming freshman but still haven't send in the SIR yet. I am wondering: does sending in the SIR earlier enable you to pick your Fall classes earlier? If not, when's Telebears for incoming Freshman?

Thanks ahead of time.

telebears phase 1 is @ your cal so, phase 2 is later. If you send in your SIR earlier, you can sign up for a calso earlier, and thus get a better phase 1.

berkeley vs. ucla

Did you have to choose between going to berkeley and going to ucla? If so, how did you make your final decision? If not, what advice can you give me?

Also, are you allowed to choose your roommates?

Visit both campuses, and talk to current students (perhaps graduates from your high school who are now attending UCLA or Berkeley). Also, what major are you interested in?

Yes, you and your roommate request each other when you are applying for housing, and although it's not guaranteed usually they'll put you together.

I'm in the College of E. Design and can't go to CalSO until the second (and final - late June) event... will that significantly alter my ability to select classes?
