What do you consider to be a "fluff" major? I've heard students refer to them often, but really, which ones are "fluff" majors?

I've often heard Mass Comm referred to as a "fluff" major. Other fluff majors depend on how much of a hard science/math elitist you are. Perhaps Sociology, Psychology, [fill-in-the-blank] Studies, among other things.

Is it of any benefit to apply earlier to housing? Is it first come first serve or does it not matter as long as you get the housing application in by May 3rd?

The housing works through a lottery system, so it doesn't matter when you apply as long as you meet the deadline.

Hey, does anyone know what's the lowest GPA you can get before you're rescinded from Berkeley?

This is in regards to off-campus housing:

About when should I start looking for an apartment (studio) or apartment-share in Berkeley? April? May?

Also, is there a board (online or paper) other than Craigslist where people/students post housing available or roommate wanted ads?

Thanks!

A couple quick questions about Environmental Economics and Policy.

I was admitted to the CLS, which also offers the major. What differences are there between the two schools with the same major?

How hard is it to transfer from CLS to CNR?

Does the CNR only have a 5 class breadth requirement? I thought I saw something somewhere that said so, but maybe the 7 core classes is university-wide.

Thanks for the help all.

Do you mean L&S? Essentially the only difference in your degree between taking the major in CNR instead of L&S is that you get a B.S. instead of a B.A.

However, CNR is substantially smaller than L&S, meaning you will get a more personal experience. According to one of the professors, "stay in L&S if you want the Wal-mart experience." In CNR, you even will get a professor as a personal guide/adviser when you declare.

It's super easy to transfer into CNR. You can transfer using the major declaration form when you are ready to declare. Even though you will be in L&S until you declare, the major advisor will still be in CNR, so it won't really make a difference.

Also, all the breadth requirements are the same regardless of whether you are in CNR or L&S.

So what's the difference between a B.A. and a B.S.? Doesn't seem like there should be much of a difference to me, if the college requirements and the major requirements are both the same...

Looks like I'll try to switch into CNR as soon as possible.

Thanks for the quick response!

This is pretty basic but what is Berkeley's early admission plan? ED/EA/SCEA? How does it work? Does it help a lot?
