some answers

Alpha Phi Omega is whatever you want it to be. They have some activities while you're pledging, but once you're in, you pretty much contribute whatever you can. It's not too big of a time commitment.

The showers in units 1-3 are separated by an inch of some kind of plastic wall. You can turn off the shower and get dressed in the stall itself. In unit 1, some stalls have a shower curtain within them so your clothes won't get wet while you shower. In any case, you can probably hang a towel and your clothes on the outside of the stall and surreptitiously take them into the stall once you're done. Oh you'll figure it out.

Depends a lot on your GPA and previously taken classes.

does the score that you get on the AP tests during your senior year affect the status of your admission if you fail any of them?

What are the GE classes for engineers? Are they the same as the ones for L&S? I have trouble finding them... Could someone post the URL please? Thanks a lot.

I am a potential Fall transfer student to Berkeley. I was accepted as a Philosophy major but, as of late, I have been looking seriously at their Integrative Biology department.

Upon transfer, I will have completed:
- two semesters of college-level Biology (not including Molecular and Cell Biology)
- two semesters of Inorganic Chemistry
- one semester of Calculus
- no semesters of Physics

Do you, or any others with experience in this department, have any recommendations regarding my strategy if I were to transfer to Berkeley?

My cousin, who just graduated with his degree from Berkeley, was very emphatic about how I should take Molecular and Cellular Biology during the summer before transferring. This is not offered by my community college, and I am wondering if I should perhaps take the course at another local community college, or simply bite the bullet and take it at the University level with all the pre-meds.

Also, if anyone has any particularly strong opinions about Berkeley's IB department vs. UCLA's Biology department, I'd like to hear them.

Thank you for your consideration.

When a class says it's "1-2 PM" on the Schedule of Classes, does that mean it's literally 1-2 pm or does it allow maybe 5-10 minutes before/after class? I want to take a class that's labeled "1-2 PM" and also one that says "2-3 PM", but if they start and end at the exact same time, I don't think I can make it to both.

Classes start at 10 after the hour as a custom of Berkeley time.

I had three classes back to back last semester. It was fine if no one ran over. Its not a problem with most instructors who agree with Berkeley time. I have heard that there are a few that do not.

Check the maps to make sure that you are able to get from one class to another within 10 minutes. I wouldn't recommend trying Tolman to Boalt in 10.

My bordering classes are all in the engineering area, so I think I should be fine. Thanks for the help!

Does anybody know the best way for me to get Cal football tickets? Are season tickets extremely hard to get for a freshmen, and how much do they cost?

Thanks in advance for all the information.
