Are we supposed to have a graphing calculator for Math 1B? And btw, (this might be a stupid question, but) when do we get our class schedules?

You're not expected to have a calculator for math. You won't be allowed a calculator on exams and you won't need it for the homework problems (though it might be helpful on some problems).

As for class schedules, they're not gonna email you your schedule or anything. It's always viewable via BearFacts. You can print it out from there or or use something like FinalDistance or Aman's Schedule Planner.

You know, I don't remember if they let you use a graphing calculator for Math 1B. The classes on campus don't...but FPF classes might...you don't have to have one though, it's quite manageable without one.

And unfortunately FPF classes don't show up on BearFacts, so you're going to have to wait until they mail it to you, which I think is 1-2 weeks before move-in day.

the financial aid office told me that students actually have an extra 30 days after a due date for a payment to make that payment...does this apply just to regular admits or to fpf people also?

I think it's the same because you all use the same billing system.

Yes you do and I think it's probably the most worthwhile event during welcome week so don't miss it. They have quality free food (never thought I'd have those 3 words in the same sentence), and the chance to socialize with other new students / tons of deans and professors.

It works like this: your loans cover your registration fees/housing fees so you take the money that you would have paid and use them to buy books.

vicissitudes: Are the loans disembursed gradually throughout the year, or in one big amount at the beginning? Because so far, only one of my loans (a direct, subsidized one) has been sent to my CARS account.

financial aid gives me the same amount of aid for the fall and spring semesters...however, i know that fall is costing me less than spring since i am oos and fpf fees are comparable to in-state fees...so what i want to know is, does the extra unused aid from fall semester "rollover" for spring semester use, or does all aid given for a particular semester have to be used for that specific semester?

Since they put me in the wrong history discussion period, I got barred from taking all possible art/lit course except English 31AC which is back-to-back with my history class on Mondays. The problem with this is that English 31AC is in Mulford, how possible is it to get from FPF to Mulford in ten minutes?

They are disbursed as soon as they are processed. I think of them as "floating in financial limbo" until a payment comes, where they are automatically used to pay the payments until they run out. It might have something to do with the "balance", but I've never been able to figure out if the "balance" refers to how much aid you have, or how much you owe for the school year, or what.

If only one of your loans has been sent to CARS, it may mean that they're only processed one, or you only accepted one, or you are missing documentation for the others (such as the Master Promissory Note).

I think they do...

Not possible. It'll take you 20 minutes if you're fast. The question is, how much does that first 10-15 minutes of class matter? For my English 1B class, it didn't matter at all. For your English class, who knows.
