misterreach, if CC grades are not calculated into your gpa, are FPF program grades calculated into it?

Applying to Haas deals a lot with having a high gpa. If I go to CC and excel, wouldn't I still be behind everyone else because I have less semesters to take courses at UCB?

My question still hasn't been answered, how many haas breadth requirements can i take off using my ap scores?

1. R&C -

A) The course selection guide for FPF states that I shouldn't sign up for an english class if I get a 5 on AP English Lit and Comp. I won't know my score until the summer (I expect myself to get a 5), so what should I do?
B) If I do get a 5 then what class will I have to sign up for? Rhetoric?
C) What is this 1st half/2nd half requirement stuff?

2. Math -

A) I got a 5 on ap calc bc, so I'm guessing I should take math 1b?
B) If I can double up in math, should I take stats for fun? I'm like 99.9% sure I will get a 5 on ap stats though so I don't know if this would be a waste of time...
C) Don't my ap credits/sats let me get out of math reqs as well? I still want to take math though...What exactly am I supposed to take in FPF if my hs credits don't let me take english/math classes?

3. Breadth -

A) Are the only classes available to FPF students during the fall the classes listed in the link below? Or are there other classes as well. For example, I want to take some econ classes, but it isn't listed under FPF. What do I have to do to get econ?

chipotle: FPF grades are calculated into your UCGPA. CC grades are not.

If you go to a CC, you might get behind depending on what you want to major in and what you're taking. If you want to do Haas, try to get some breadth requirement out of the way and maybe English or Math and you should be fine. You can also take summer classes.

As far as AP scores go, I think you can take off several. My guess is, as many as you fulfill. Email a Haas advisor about it.

If you got a 5 on BC, you can technically skip out on 1B. But if you're in a major that needs 1 or 2 semesters of calculus, then you have to take it (pre-med comes to mind).

Yeah FPF classes are really limited. I think there are only around 20-30. A typical schedule would be R1A, Math 1A, Sociology, Psychology. Something like that. It's usually English + Math + 2 breadth or English/Math + 3 breadth or College Writing + 2 breadth.

soo when do fpf students enroll for classes? i know fall admits do it at calso, but fpf students have to do it online?

Your Class Selection Form (CSF) is due by June 2. You can fax or mail it to the FPF office.

at ReadyForCollege. That is bull ****. Spring admission is essentially partially random. The OUGA has a quantized assessment of you as a read score, if you're read score is <~2.5 you automatically get fall admission. If you're read score is <3.0, you automatically get spring admission. If you're read score is around 2.5, they have a weird way where they place you into one or the other based on how you compare to other applicants from your high school. Also, the read score involves more than just your academics, I believe.

The Course form is first come first serve, sort of. The earlier you send it, the better chance at getting classes you want.

I was reading on the website for l&s and it said you have to apply to be in Computer Science...i was admitted into CS for fall of 2008...i didn't know i would have to apply again in my sophomore year....it said that ppl who chose CS should have a back up major.....?!?!
how true is this?

^you are admitted to L&S as a undeclared, you are not official CS until you declare in your soph or junior year.

my question didn't get answered yet so...i'll repost....

I sent in my course selection form last thursday and the enroll in fpf courses is still in my checklist. how am I supposed to get confirmation if they got it?

How is this for a schedule:

Classics 10A – 4 Units - M/W/F
English 31AC – 4 Units - M/W
Psychology 1 – 3 Units – M/W
Philosophy 2 – 4 Units – T/Th
Rhetoric 2 – 2 Units – T/Th

So no Q&R or R&C classes because I passed out of them and don't need math for business/econ/. I will have 17 units, but rhetoric is pass/fail...If you think I have too many classes/units I am thinking of dropping Classics 10A so I will have 13 units left.

Is this a good schedule or should I change it? If some of these classes aren't great or there are better classes iyo, feel free to tell me. It sucks that I can't take business/econ classes, but I do plan to take philsophy and rhetoric for sure.

you cannot have more than four classes in fpf. Drop Rhetoric, it is a useless class.

Hi guys, I'm planning on being gone from july - 1st week of August. I'm going to miss calso and will come back two weeks before move in day (sunday Aug 24th). I have 2 questions:

1. Is missing calso really that terrible? Calso is important for signing up for clases, but we don't use that. I'm still worried about it though because I wanted calso for the spring semester. Would I be able to sign up for spring calso even if I don't go to summer calso?

2. If I don't get a dorm, will I be able to find an apartment in 2 weeks? Or should I come back earlier, say last week of july (extra 1.5 weeks)?
