| I just got accepted on appeal (they made a mistake reviewing my app the first time) to Berkeley's spring 09 semester. I would really like to start in the fall, and FPF is full, so since I live in San Francisco, could I just commute and take normal classes at Berkeley while living at home?
Also, who should I contact about arranging this?

| if i apply for housing now is that too late? like i heard it's a lottery system how they pick housing but i know someone who was a spring admit last year and she said that most people who got housing were the ones who turned theirs in early. does turning it in early really help? im really worried. im about to hurry up and do mine right now | |

| I have a really sweet setup. I am a spring admit in FPF right now registered for the R1A writing, but I may change depending on the AWPE results. 14 units in all with FPF -- not too heavy for my first semester. The coop I will be living at will be awesome many thousands of dollars cheaper than the on campus housing. | |

| Geez, no one answers questions in this thread, and I don't go on CC a lot anymore.
If anyone still cares, if you're admitted to Spring and FPF is full then you either have to take CC in the fall or stay home and do nothing. Housing is not given on a first-come-first-serve basis so as long as you apply before the deadline you're fine. Poli Sci and Sociology seem like straightforward classes with a few papers.
I'll try to check CC more often in the future. | |

| How's the FPF program? do u think i have a chance at getting a housing offer since i live about five hours away from berkeley? what should i do if i dont get offered housing? go to a community college near home instead? | |

| Yeah I've heard of people doing that before and sometimes they tell you and sometimes they don't. Honestly just wait for housing offers to come out, it's not a big deal.
Generally from what I've seen, if you live farther away you have a better shot of getting housing. If you don't get housing, I'd recommend looking for other options, there's Themed Housing, Tau House (which is meh), apartments (socially dead), co-ops (also meh, you have to do chores but it's cheap). CC if you want to save money. | |

| aww, why is tao house "meh?" i was thinking about applying to that one if i didn't get housing
i was also thinking about hillside residence hall; do you know anything about that one? also, are these kinds of residence halls mostly freshman, or a mix of people from all grades? | |

| Tau House is a pretty good option, I'd take it over apartment or co-op. If you're interested, definitely apply. It's just not my cup of tea.

| Hillside residence hall seems more fun and less structured than Tao house. I checked them both out - Tao house seemed very well mantained and very comfortable, but it seemed way to structured and stuffy and insular to me. Hillside has a smaller number of students but it seemed like they were allowed more freedom and it looked like better times. | |

| I just called up Cal Housing right now and found out my lottery number. 16 BABY!!!!!!!
They said I have an offer right now, but they aren't sending out the official ones until Monday.
