Assuming you're applying to L&S I think you have a pretty good chance. I'd say 60-70%.

kaii: you're an odd case -- it's a little difficult to say. Your UC GPA is a little weak (below average for Berkeley), and your scores are subpar. You have good/average ECs, and that award will definitely help you. So it could go either way. I'd say slight reach, high match.

50% is about a match; 'in' would mean about a safety, or safe match, and that's at about 70%+. For you, I'd say it's about 40%. (Note: I'm not a fan of percents -- it's very difficult to be that precise with this sort of thing.)

@kaii:
Low scores yet the Governor's Medallion is interesting. I predict a slight match if you can write a good essay about your art or something.

I have no idea how much the award helps but looking at everything else, low SAT scores and below-average GPA. First-gen college student will help. I'd guess 20-30% chance.

Would being a second-gen Berkeley student bolster or lower my chances? :P

Which college are you applying to?
Thinking about Engineering School. Either Electrical or Chemical.

List a few of your most important ECs
I went to three different high schools (1 for each school year..)
so I don't have any ECs that I did for more than one year.Consequently, no significant leadership positions.

for 9th grade I have a lot of awards and honors but it's from a different country so I don't know if anyone would even know what those are.

10th grade: Mock Trial, Translation Internship
still abroad

11th grade: CSF, Work at John Hancock Financial Network, tutoring, went to China this summer for work & travelling with my own earned money, Math Excellence award, CM Level 9(violin), Orchestra, going to have about 150 hours community service, etc.

other
- I speak four languages..would that even help me?
- took 6APs 10th grade
Calculus BC 5
US History 4
Macro Econ
Micro Econ (I don't remember but one of the Econs was 4 and one was 5)
Government & Politics Comparative4
Chemistry 4

3 APs 11th grade
AP Environmental Science 5
AP Statistics 5
AP Biology 5

taking AP Physics and AP English 12th grade (Possibly also AP Euro His)

-taking a Math course at UCI in 12th grade (Either Multivariable Calculus or Infinite Series & Linear Algebra) and possibly also an Engineering course

Thanks so much for reading!

coolchoa: very odd case you have. Great GPA, great scores, rigorous course load (I would recommend taking AP Euro), your ECs are a little odd (weak?) relative to others' but you have an explanation, you have a unique situation in your traveling... so, if you make your essays really great, I'd say you have a good shot.
