Hahaha well you know what, I'm kind of disappointed in Berkeley now because they were the ones who started this whole mess. Their wording in the email was awful and cruel, and it certainly does give false hope. I'm still not expecting to get in, but it certainly would've been nice if they just left out that "we're worth the wait!" part. They certainly should have had second thoughts on that paragraph before they receive even more emails expressing confusion from applicants and parents alike. I don't know about the rest of you, but this is sort of ridiculous.

Well, I know that, kevioke. I just felt like expressing my disappointment in the Berkeley admissions staff about this stupid email, that's all. Geeeeeeeeez. Oh well, at least it was kinda fun trying to figure this all out. I'll just see what happens on Thurs.

Haa I totally predicted that people would doubt UCB's email....again. What do you want people? Straight from the admissions office. They re-sent it bc people kept asking if it was a likely letter, so they changed the wording. Only those who had already received it were sent additional copies.

You're all obsessed. WAY obsessed.

honestly, i think we're overanalyzing it. ucb sent out a reminder, and after sending it, they discovered they had risen the hopes of many applicants, and then sent out another version. i don't know WHY people got one version and not the others, but mass emails always have glitches.

i emailed a link of this discussion to UCB. just thought i'd let them know what havoc they're wreaking. hahahaha.

@vc08 - if people misunderstood the first version and they sent out another to clarify it, don't you think their addition to clarify it would be "this is not a likely email, let us clarify that". They wouldn't be re-wording it to "don't send your reply to other UCs yet, worth the wait"

I personally think that someone wrote the email without thinking how it will be interpreted. It could be a "likely" or just a "reminder", but surely not thought through well on their part.

99% of the applicants would have not viewed it as a "likely" if they had skipped that one line and just said "decisions will be out on 27th and this is just a reminder"

Well, I'm not freaking out because whatever happens happens. I understand that.
I'm just perplexed because some people like me didn't even get an e-mail (I'm OOS...I thought I had a good shot...the only UC I applied to was this one). I'm pretty sure it's not in my bulk. What do you guys make of that?
That would mean that this isn't a mass e-mail, as the people at UC-Berk suggested. They're deceiving us all.

DUN DUN DUNNNNNN.....
