Welcome, mBA!

Glad to see a real UCB rep on these forums (after all that discussions about email #3) and the initial doubts we had about your post last week.

As a first step, encourage UCB to have a admission blog going forward. It would really help!

That's such a cool abbreviation, especially with Haas's ultra-strong MBA programs =)

This is great! There are so many misconceptions on CC about Berkeley it will be great to have Berkeley representative to help give accurate information. Also, instead of arguing over some of the problems about Berkeley on CC amongst each other, a Berkeley representative can take note of they many recurring issues and positive results may occur. I hope someone PMs Sakky..this is a perfect opportunity for him to talk about many of Berkeley's UG problems with a Berkeley rep.

welcome to the forum. Now get those trees removed so the stadium can be renovated and Tedford will stay (and isn't a tree the mascot of that school down south?)

Thanks for the welcomes

First, no apologies needed from those who 'doubted' we represented UC Berkeley in prior posts. That was healthy skepticism, because we could have been anyone. Although we've occasionally read thru some CC threads for years for ideas on how our web content might be improved, this was the first time we felt we needed to step in to dispel rumors quickly, but we were unaware that the "College Rep" cagetory existed until some of you mentioned it. That's when we contacted CC to become official.

Now let's set the record straight. We represent the myBerkeleyApp WEBSITE for UC Berkeley, which is for undergrad applicants, admitted students, and primarily for students who have said "Yes, I'm coming". The purpose of the site is to point you to correct information and help you focus on what's important in the information overload you experience when you are admitted, and to keep track of the status of all the different forms you need to fill out and steps you need to take if you decide to come. Therefore, we are NOT experts in admissions, financial aid, housing, etc. -- we simply try to direct you to the experts via our site.

For specific questions about majors, transfer credit, housing, financial aid, admissions, etc. here are links where questions can be submitted:

If you've already SIR'd (accepted our offer of admission):
a) Admissions or financial aid questions: use links on right side of your myBerkeleyApp home page
b) College/curriculum questions: use link called 'Visit your college's website' in the 'Explore Your Campus' box in mBA home Page
c) Other: check out the Contact list link on right side of your myBerkeleyApp home page

If you've been admitted and are still trying to decide:
a) Admissions or financial aid questions: use links on left side of your myBerkeleyApp home page
b) College/curriculum questions: use college name link the the first sentence on your mBA home Page

Everyone else:
a) Admissions: http://admissions.berkeley.edu -- Use Contact Us link at bottom of Admissions home page
b) Financial Aid: http://financialaid.berkeley.edu -- Email fao_ugr@berkeley.edu if you don't find answer on website
c) Other: search http://www.berkeley.edu for the appropriate college, department, topic

As far as rr43's suggestion about having an admissions blog, if you submit some samples of good admissions blogs we can pass the suggestion on to the Admissions Office.

Go Bears!

Encourage the admissions people to look at the University of Chicago admissions blog. It's great:

having left berkeley over 35 years ago, i was thrilled after both my boys were accepted. they have finished their time at cal and are off on their quest. it is large. it has always been large. while not encouraging diverse thought, the academics are outstanding. as i have aged, i have become critical of the mentality of narrow thought that pervades social berkeley, but i was in science and found it to be the best. my career has taken my elsewhere in the world, and i remain a devoted cal propagandist in spite of the need for one to be made bullet-proofed against the extreme leftist social culture. go there for the education. you will get it. they wont treat you like a high school kid, as in most of the small liberal arts colleges, which i am told are also very left leaning, particularly in the northeast. but you cant beat the sciences or math departments. and do take classes given by their most popular profs. they have earned their reps for good reason and no matter what your interests or major, they will be some of the most exciting classes you will ever take. i continue to take classes on line fro cal and mit, and hope to do so till i die. forever young.
