help!!! urgent SIR question!

hi i already sent in my SIR to CAl, but i'm having second thoughts. I'm pretty sure I'd rather go to UCSD, so I was clicking around the site and accidentally sent in my SIR to UCSD!!! i thought i needed to pay with credit card before i could send in my sir to UCSD, but apparently not. what do i do to withdraw my sir from Cal? I can still go to one of the colleges as long as I withdraw one of the SIRs, right?

I believe (could be wrong, but I think I read this somewhere), that with UCs, you can only submit the SIR to one UC. Therefore, you are obligated to enroll at the first school you submitted it to (in this case, Cal). This probably explains why you were unable to pay for the UCSD SIR; you are logged into the UC system database as a Cal student.

Honestly, everything happens for a reason. I'm sure Cal was well thought-out and you'll love it there. Be happy, it's a great school

but the ucsd page says "Welcome to the UC San Diego admissions information Web site. We have received your Statement of Intent to Register and are pleased you have accepted our offer of admission to UC San Diego! You will soon receive advisement, orientation, and enrollment information from your undergraduate college."

and my friends say that they didn't have to pay $100 to submit their SIRs at UCSD either. what am i to do??

and i won't have "jeopardize my enrollment opportunities" by having sent in SIRS to Cal and UCSD as long as I retract one of them???

My friend didn't have to pay for her SIR to UCSD. Don't worry about that aspect of your problem!

Here is a post by a UC Davis Adcom member on the subject:

Sir

Also there is this warning on the UC application site:

You may accept admission to one campus only. You may not transfer your acceptance from one campus to another after you declare your intent to register. A $100 nonrefundable deposit must accompany your acceptance.

Here is the URL: University of California - Admissions - The University of California offers one of the broadest ranges of study of any institution of higher learning in the world, all at an affordable price.

Buddy, just call them. Honestly people here will give their opinions on what to do, but they can't actually do anything in terms of help you get this straightened out. Call UC Berkeley and explain the situation. I would start with fundergrad financial aid.
