Freshman Summer Session

Anyone doing this or have done this before? Is it worth it? One of the benefits listed is that FSS can save money, but I don't see how it can if it still charges the student at UC Student rates (243 / unit).

Is there any true benefit for Freshman Summer Session other than starting classes early in an intimate environment? I've also heard that some of the teachers there aren't even really from Cal.

Thanks.

Many of the summer session courses are taught by grad students. Professors from other local universities/visiting professors also teach them sometimes.
