What NOT to bring to Calso

Is it a bad idea to bring a laptop to calso? I'm staying in the dorm for the night before and I understand that there's no program for that night. Is there an internet connection available for us at calso? Would anyone who has gone to calso in the past recommend bringing it or would it just be a hassle?

i took my laptop with me and it was not a problem at all

you wont have to carry it around with you because you can put your stuff in your room before you go to the activities. i used it at night to go on aim and also research classes/schedule planning. it was useful

Do they give you a key to lock your room? And how do you log on to the internet?

Yes, you have keys to enter your individual rooms shared between you and your roomate/s. You can go on wifi with your student ID # and pass phrase.

You go to a computer lab to schedule your classes; you can do whatever you want on the Internet while you're there.

Hehe. I ran a broadband speed test while I was in the computer lab.
I didn't bring a laptop (my iphone worked just fine), but I saw plenty of people on AIM/researching classes while I was at CalSO.

Not necessary, but not bad to have, I guess. As long as you do your scheduling in advance, it's really not necessary (unless you have an addiction to AIM or facebook, in which case, I can't help you anyway!)
Just put it in your room, and lock up.
