Question about Bio IA prerequisite....!

so to take bio IA, I need to fulfill this prerequisite:

"Prerequisites: A grade of C- or better in Chemistry 3A or 112A"

but does anyone know if an AP biology score of 4 or 5 will suffice for the preprequisite? I dont want to take 2 years of chemistry before biology, because I know I'll do better if I take bio in my first semester since the material I covered this year will still be fresh in my mind.. and i need to take it for med school anyway..

soo, does anyone know how to get around this prereq or is it the only way?

No way around it. Take Bio 1B. It covers plants, evolution, and ecology. There are no prereqs needed for Bio 1B. Generally people take Bio 1B before Bio 1A.

I know when I took the class, all the students who did not complete the prereqs were dropped...

From the Spring 2007 Website:
"Attempting to enroll in Biology 1A or 1AL assumes that you have fulfilled the course prerequisites of Chem 1A (or 4A) and Chem 3A (or 112A). It is recommended to have taken or be concurrently enrolled in Chem 3B (or 112B). You must be at least a Sophomore. If you do not fulfill the prerequisites, you may be dropped from the course at any time."

I would be weary of signing up without consulting the bio 1a coordinator.

Erm, there's no way around this. You HAVE to have taken Chem 3A (with at least a C-) before you enroll. If you don't meet the pre-req and sign up for the course, you WILL get dropped by Meighan. Bio 1A/1AL is the most anal course you will have to take.

By the way, what you learned in Bio AP is not going to be of much help to you in Bio 1A/1AL.

has anyone taken bio 1b with lab and chem 1a with lab at the same time? it's not too harsh, is it?

it did bio 1b with chem 1a in spring. Bio 1B is better in spring. It was feasible, but I had IB C185 with the two of them, so it kind of sucked
