The Office of Undergraduate Admissions told me that credits from out of state institutions of higher learning with which Cal has no articulation agreement are considered for acceptance on an individual basis for admitted freshman during the summer and fall after admission (it can take until October). The same is true of AP credit. The student can check their Bear Facts during the summer and fall, and when the credit appears on Bear Facts they can then approach the advisor in their specific college to see what (if any) requirements the accepted credits will fulfill.

So, for example, if a student expects to receive credit for AP Calculus AB or Calculus 2 taken at an OOS college, the student may not find out if their specific college at Cal's requirement for an equivalent math will be fulfilled by the AP test or the OOS college class until after registration for fall has closed. If, in the preceding example, the student's requirement for Math 16a at Berkeley is deemed to be fulfilled by the student's AP Calculus AB, but Math 16b is not deemed to be fulfilled, the student would register for 16b for second semester.

With all that said, does anyone know how likely it is that the colleges will waive requirements for satisfactory AP scores? Or OOS university credit with a satisfactory grade? Can anyone relate their past experience?

Since the colleges publish tables for this, it seems very likely, so my question only pertains to the OOS college/univ credits transferring.

i'm not sure about non articulated OOS university credit, but if its at a big school like harvard or something like that i'm pretty sure theyll accept it.

as for ap credit, as long as its passing (some other aps reuqire high scores and it varys among the colleges), they accept it as credit. however, if you are in L&S, the ap credits will not count towards fulfilling breadth requirements (except for math).
