How many units is too much?

My tentative schedule for next semester:

Art 12 (4 units)
Poli Sci 2 (4)
History 158C (4)
Poli Sci 137A (4)
German R5A (4)

That's 20 units. All of the classes (except for my drawing class) supposedly contain heavy reading. Would this be too much? I was considering dropping German R5A but I'm not sure if I should delay my R+C classes any further. I'm a sophomore btw.

I think that's quite a lot of classes. Since you said all but your drawing class are heavy reading, then you should drop 1 of the 4. I would suggest dropping History or Poli Sci, depending on which is more important/more interesting. You should try not to delay R&C any longer and this is a good time to take Poli Sci 2.

If you're a sophomore, I think you can determine how many units is too many units for you. Those two upper-division courses will require quite a bit of reading (as will your Poli Sci 2 class, but not as much), so if you want my honest opinion, I think you should drop one of your upper division classes. I don't think you should delay finishing your R&C requirement, so go ahead and stick with German R5A (all of the German lecturers are great teachers anyways).
