University of California Berkelely Engineering.

I did not receive a likely letter from UCB for engineering. Are my chances of getting in now slim to none? Also I'm out of state from NY.

I did, however, receive a likely letter from UCLA for engineering. Did any of you receive a likely letter from both of these schools?

Greatly appreciated if you guys can tell me what my shot is at UCB without a likely letter but with one from UCLA. (I don't want this to be a chance thread)

plenty of admits do not receive the mailing you call the 'likely letter' for engineering.

Slim to none - no, that is unwarranted by the omission of this mailing.

Better if you had received it - yes.

I recall getting a likely letter from UCLA engineering, but not one from Berkeley. I was accepted to EECS, with the Regents' scholarship at both schools.

Basically, I don't think it matters.

Same here, I got one from UCLA but not one from UCB

I'm worried...I hope UCB isn't like UCLA about likely letters
cuz UCLA supposedly send them to all accepted.

I'm in the same boat too and super worried
I applied to bioengineering which is super competitive.
I'm excited about UCLA...but I think I like UCB more! From what I've heard, basically they sent the engineering e-mail to the top admits, but I think we still have a chance (if we end up in the average/low pool).
I'm so anxious

I'm sure it doesn't matter. I found out about my admission quite early because of the Regents' Interview. Plenty of people at my school got the UCLA likely, and I'm pretty sure nobody got the Berkeley COE likely.

You're perfectly fine, relax. Engineering here is not as hard to get into as it is to do well in anyway -- if you have very high grades and scores, you're very likely in (if in state). If out of state, I can't say.

Maybe because BERKELEY is trying to get engineers who can write basic words correctly, such as the name of their school?

I second Rider's post #2.

My D is now a UCB freshman. Last year, she got the likely from UCLA, but none from UCB. But she got in UCB. So stay dry, sunny skies will be here soon in Bayarea!

well thats good. i'm basically assuming i got into UCLA. But I prefer UCB. I'm in state, ELC, good grades and fairly well rounded, but my SAT scores weren't amazing. does anyone know how many people they accept into CoE? Or do they accept a certain number of people per major in CoE?
