if 1000 people can't take lab, then those 1000 people won't get into lecture. 1a isn't like 3a/3al; there is no separate lecture for labs. you must take lab for lecture in 1a. All you can do is hope that they open more labs because they seemingly like to underestimate by a lot for whatever reason.

i did my CalSO already (june 8-9) and was wondering the same thing

the way it works is that on the schedule of classes, it shows only 1 lab in each time slot. when u use telebears to register for classes, u pick the time slot you want (for me it was monday 1-5). it told me that the one i had picked was full but automatically enrolled me in another lab for the same time slot.

in other words, there are more in each time slot (not just what looks like ONE section of 20 ppl or whatever), and thus the online schedule just doesn't list more than 1 in the same time slot even if they are there. not sure how many they can take at each time but thats what happened for me

just an fyi for people who might have these professors in the future - arnold is awesome! and i like stacy too. majda is ok...the other 2 are better. I've only been to majda once though.

I've been to Majda's and Stacy's lectures before. I think Stacy is a much better lecturer, and she was the main professor in charge of the course when I took Chem 1A. What tends to happen is that it doesn't really matter what lecture you sign up for- it's more the labs that you need to get into in order to be into the class.

When I took it, you needed an iClicker for participation points so that you could take the short quizzes during classes so they'd know that you attended, but the lectures are still webcasted.
