if you have time frosh year...

another word of advice: if you have so much time frosh year (preferably after fall quarter), that you don't know what to do with it, try doing a research project with a professor. it's NEVER too early to start research, and you can definitely find projects to work on even frosh year. and it looks pretty sweet for grad schools when they see you did research starting your first year.

p.s. if you have way too much time and you're not going to any parties-- party first, then do research. =P

thats good advice. i want to go to dental school so i will def need the extra brownie points.

so how do you start this process of finding research? can you just ask profs who have interesting classes or are there specific websites that list which profs do what kind of research?

Uh I don't think you do research in dental school...you should be focused on community service and internships at dental practices.

Yes, I recommend getting started on research as early as possible (I started my 3rd week of fall quarter). Although you most likely not have any course work/experience try to convey that you are willing to work and learn when talking to professors. I had experience and the willingness to work/learn, so I got a position. I got a lot of "wow you're a freshman?" working in the lab -_- (hopefully this is the same feeling admissions committees will have when I apply).
