You must be a full time student which is a minimum of 12 units.

There is also a minimum progress requirement which I believe is 39 quarter units over any 3 given normal academic terms. Even though 12 quarter units is minimum for full time status, it will not meet minimum progress. 12, 14, 13 quarter units in the fall, winter, spring quarters respectively will meet the requirement for example.

it depends what class you take...

classes range from .5 unit (like PE classes) to 3 unit classes (which tend to be on Tuesday/Thursday, 4 unit chem or math classes and etc and some 5 unit classes.

but you'll know how many units each class is worth in the general catalog.
