1st/2nd semester senior grades

dimedropperdimedropper Posts: 97Registered User Junior Member
this question always pops up, but do UC's see any of your first or second semester senior grades? i know they do at the end of they year when u send in your transcript and stuff, but other than that time, do they see them? Uc's have no midyear reports, so they dont know how you are doing in your classes. A 3.0 unweighted must be kept at all times. do you think uc's will rescind your admission if you get 3.0-3.5 both semesters when you got 4.5 and 4.6's junior year?

I would guess that the UC schools will not rescind your college acceptance letter provided that you at least pull off a 3.0 unweighted GPA each semester. However, it is quite possible that the UC campus you apply to might want to see your first semester grades if you are really borderline on getting into the college.
I would probably advise you to try to keep up good grades (so that college life might be easier and how you might be exempt from some classes if you're able to pass some AP exams.

You can definitely relax a bit during your senior year. There is no way for the UCs to see your first and second semester grades. They only see the courses that you're taking for your senior year. If you feel that you're a borderline applicant for a certain UC, they definitely keep your grades out. UC Berkeley sends out questionaires to these borderline applicants, and they can either make or break you.

A 3.0 unweighted GPA is not a deal breaker. Just get a mixture of A's and B's and you'll be fine. Avoid C's and definitely no D's - those are deal breakers.

Schools such as UC Berkeley send out questionaires to people who are on the border of being accepted or rejected. This is to collect more information, beyond what was stated in the personal statement. If they like what they see, you're in. Otherwise, you're rejected.

The UCs never see your senior year grades until AFTER you are accepted. Unless you really tank your grades, getting a few B's won't be a deal breaker to admissions.

What about UCLA, UCSD, etc. ? do they send out questionaires? man, it sucks to be borderline.i plan to get 2 A's and 3 B's...at least with my effort right now. -_-

so no C's, get a mixture of A's and B's, UCs will not see your first/second semester grades until after accepted, only see current courses. so pretty much, one can slack off. =p

C's don't get you rescinded, anything below that will. Don't skate too close to the edge because every school has the a-hole teacher who likes to screw up your admission into college.

lot of misinfo here. If you are a borderline app, a campus can and will come back and ask for first semester senior grades. Also, the UCs randomly audit apps to ensure that the info is truthul. Both cases are extremely rare, but do happen. Once accepted, you only have to maintain a 3.0 uw average for any campus.
