Question about my AP Macroeconomics score

I got a 4 on the AP Macroecon. exam. It says in the catalog that I get 4 units for Economics 20B. Now the thing that confuses me is that Economics 20A-B is a series (hence the bracket). So how does that work? Does that mean then I must take economics 20A in order to finish off that series and to meet the category II requirements (since A is a prerequisite of B) ?

It is a series but from reading the catalogue it appears 20A is Microeconomics and 20B is Macroeconomics. I am pretty sure you will get the credit whether or not you take 20A, meaning you can get 1 class towards the GE Cat II requirement with just the plain AP credit, and 2 if you take 20A on top of it. Make sense? I confuse myself sometimes so that might have been unintelligible....

well why do you need to complete the series? if you need 20A as a major requirement, yes you will have to take it. If you want to use it as a GE, then you need to take it. If 20A is a pre-req, you will need to take it. "Completing a series" means nothing, you need to access if you need the 20A class, as a major requirement, GE requirement, or pre-req.

well as a engineering major doesn't look like I need econ. 20A then.

Thanks buddy I appreciate all your help. Just kinda through me off at first because I got credit for a class that I didn't have a pre-req for. Kinda strange...
