I have two classes back-to-back in the same building so it's pretty darn nice. You can just relax and wait for your next class, and not worry even if your professor goes over time during lecture, stuff like that. But if you end up changing classrooms, junshik is correct, you can make it to any class on campus within ten minutes.
Planning so that classes are nearby makes it easier and less stressful, but it shouldn't be absolutely necessary. Yes, you can make it from engineering to humanities in less than ten if you cut through the park (and make sure you're using the shortest path possible). It should take just as long as going from social science to humanities taking ring road. You just have to use your judgment whether to use ring road or the park for the fastest route. Obviously you wouldn't use the park if your class is along ring road, or you wouldn't use ring road if your class was straight across campus, etc.
