Who lives in AV?

There was a previous thread on housing, but I feel like I wasn't getting enough info!

I'm considering living in Arroyo Vista because of the
1. single room
2. relatively cheap rent
3. academic year lease.

I know that the other apt's have year-round leases, and that it is possible to sub-lease, but it can be hard to find a sub-leaser.

That said, anyone who lives in AV or visited AV, how do you like it? Is the room bigger than the residence hall rooms? (i.e. a double in ME)

Were you able to find a same apt complex with friends?
Would you live in AV again next year?

If you dont mind that the majority of AV are Fraternity/Sorority Territory and have to write an essay for the special hall you want to get into, then AV would be your choice. Its also very, very close to the ARC, as well with VDC and VDC Norte. Isnt CV more cheaper than AV? Although its ugly looking compared to AV, its closer to the Science Library and convenient to campus. I just noticed that most off-campus and on-campus housing are behind of UCI and close to the ARC, what is up with that?

Is it loud at night in AV?
CV is cheaper, but I don't desire a double room =/

I double checked the housing site and under the AV rates they only list prices for doubles so I'm assuming they're only doubles...

Thanks, I just checked it too. I don't even know how I got the assumption that AV are single rooms only.

Does anyone know if finding a sub-leaser is easy to find?

If you want a single room I would recommend VDC or VDCNorte. You would be sharing an apartment with other people but could still have a single room. The single apartments are crazy $$$$$$ though so I don't recommend that.

Yeah its better just to live with a roommate I guess.
Are second years allowed to live in Dartmouth court? My friend is considering doing that with roommates.

I'll prob end up in AV

DArthmouth Courts are off campus related, they have nothing related to UCI. You can try finding rooms there and check the price and all, and still apply for AV. Its until Feb. they will send contracts for AV and you can decide to accept or deny the contract.
