Ok so I want to take Math 2D winter 2010 quarter.

Unfortunately, "Enrollment in Math 2D is restricted to majors in the Schools of Physical Sciences and of Engineering until noon on December 18, 2009."

And I am currently undecided/undeclared (although I'm 99.993% sure about switching into engineering).

So my questions are:

Is there any way to get in to this class without having to wait until the second enrollment window?

If I can't get in and have to wait until Dec 18, how likely is it that I will get the class? In other words, does Math 2D usually fill up all the way, and do people usually end up getting dropped from Math 2D?

Any input would be appreciated ^____^

declare a major. the school says you need to have certain prereqs to get into the major, but they can add you at any time. the engineering school isnt likely to add you early, while the phys sci school probably will.

just dont declare physics. they need to take their own section of physics 7 i think.

Even though it says restricted to Physical Sciences/Engineering as an U/U you might be able to enroll. Talk with the U/U advisor, more than likely he/she can get you in before the adjustment period.

This is how it worked for some of the Lower Div freshman bio classes last year. Said Bio Majors only but U/U could also enroll.

I e-mailed a U/U adviser and she pretty much said they couldn't get me in.

So how long does the change of major thing take? If I change major, my academic adviser will be in the school of physical sciences right? So I won't have anything to to with U/U anymore? Is it common for people to change majors just to get into a class?

I got into Math 2D (and 2J and 13) as an Economics major in the Spring Quarter no problem (I had to wait for the 2nd enrollment window though). If you look at the websoc for past years, you will see that must Math2D classes aren't full, meaning people dropped. You can always put yourself on the wait list and add a week into the quarter if you change of major plan doesn't work.

Also, change of major (at least for Social Science) takes about 1-1.5 weeks max.
When I changed way back when in Fall Quarter freshmen year, it took like 3 days. When I changed during the summer, it took like 2 hours.

when i changed my major from engineering to physical science, it took about 15 minutes. but i had done well in most of my core science classes, so they changed me even though i didnt finish all the needed classes for my new major.

I filled out the form today at Rowland Hall and the guy said it will probably take a couple of days. I couldn't get into the Math major though so I'll be physical science/undeclared, which is good enough. :P
