How is the Business School at Irvine?

UCI is one of the schools I am interested in attending, and I have researched quite a bit about it. I plan on majoring in business (accounting??), but after searching and researching through a lot of material, I have come across very few resources about UCI's business school. I heard that it is pretty small? Just wondering if anybody can clear this confusion up for me, does UCI have a good business school?

All I've heard are good things about the Paul Merage school at UCI. The undergrad program is very new, I believe it started last or two years ago. However, the MBA program is very strong, let me tell you that.
If you plan in majoring business (accounting), you'll be applying for the Business Administration major, which allows for two specialization minors (Management or Accounting).
The Business Admin. major at UCI is an impacted major, that is, admission into the major is limited; therefore, competitive. I believe there are around 200-300 business admin majors in the freshman class.

I am a current freshman, I applied to UCI for business admin. I was accepted as a business admin major, but I had a change of heart (a mindless and one of my big regrets), and switched my major to bio before orientation. After orientation, I decided that I wanted to go back to business, but they wouldn't let me in, since it was a "closed" major.

So here I am, "undeclared", but taking the same classes as a business major for fall quarter at least, (econ 20a, mgmt 10, math 2a, writ 39b). I was advised to apply for the business major at the spring of my sophomore year, after I complete all the prereqs.

There is an alternative to the 'business' major, which I believe is business econ. I believe they enter this major if they are deferred from the business admin major or they wish to study econ.

Whatever you do, do not drop the business major if you get into UCI as it, unless you are 100000% sure. I was 80% sure, and look at me now.

On a side note, I'm not exactly sure if the Paul Merage school at UCI is that competitive.. although I did see it in the top 15 business schools in Business Week in the last article.

Good luck
