A Career in the Business Field: UCI vs. UCSD

UCI
Major: Business Admin.
Pros: Limited spots meaning more personalized attention from professors.
Cons: New program, not much prestige YET.

UCSD
Major: Management Science
Pros: More prestigious school in general.
Cons: Eleanor Roosevelt College...

Help me choose!

Thanks everyone!

What is management science? that sounds like a major for people who would like to study Management in a lab. I would hit up UCI for their Business Admin. And since Irvine is a hardcore capitalist city with lots of companies in the area, finding internships would be easy.

UCI Business career outlook > UCSD Business career outlook

Judging from your pro's and con's:

UCI's PRO outweighs UCSD's PRO, because the 'prestige' is hardly significant, and the CON for UCI sure looks like it can be turned into a pro :].

Positions in the business field like degrees with the word business in it. I post jobs everyday for MBA students, and management science? How come it's not called business management?

I'm a transfer student with the same concerns. When I look at the Management Sci curriculum at SD it comes across as basically an Econ degree with two finance courses and two operations research courses. In comparison, the Irvine BBA curriculum seems better suited to prepare me for a mini sampling of the MBA traditional 1st year curriculum. What to do, what to do?

get the degree as cheaply/easily/quickly as possible and get working ASAP.

the biggest reason you're gonna get into a business school is cause you offer some connection to the business school (a foothold in some industry). maybe you work in marketing, consulting, whatever. if you dont care for getting an education and just want a degree, get in, get out and get work experience to get that MBA or whatever.
