UCLA Class of 2018 - Supplemental Questionnaire Applicants // Updates, Information, Decisions

Congratulations to those who have received the supplemental questionnaire! I thought I'd make this post to have everyone who knows any information or who has received the supplement to post any updates, information, and decisions. We've recently turned in our second chances in proving why we should be admitted and the wait is becoming unbearable. I hope this thread will help current and future questionnaire applicants in the waiting process. Good luck to everyone!

    My son is still waiting.. why exactly do they send supplemental questionnaires?
  • bruin2018bruin2018 Posts: 63Registered User Junior Member
    @rr1995,

    After gathering information from other posts and people, I believe its for students that are borderline applicants. The questionnaire has three versions (1: disability, 2: talent, 3: borderline) and 3,000-4,000 students receive one of them. I'm not exactly sure if this is true but Ive heard that those who get this and answer it well have really good chances of getting in. At this point in time, schools have made their decisions of those who got accepted, rejected and maybes. If you don't have good stats this really is a blessing because it means they are highly interested in you. The wait is just terrible.. :-S

    When I applied last year, I never got one but I still got admitted. My stats were okay. I want to say they're random but I believe they're for borderline applicants like the above person stated.

    How long were your responses, @bruin2018?
  • bruin2018bruin2018 Posts: 63Registered User Junior Member
    @agreatperhaps13,

    We were required to have two responses less than 4,000 characters each and mine was a little less than the maximum. I'm not sure exactly!

    Anyone truly know our chances or any info on this?

    If you worked really hard on your essays but got a C in economics AP but maintained a B and A in everything else senior year will that really hurt your chances? Especially if you applied to major in Pre-Business Economics? Although i heard they don't look at your major for The College of Letters and Sciences. can someone please tell me if that one C will really hurt my chances or if i should be okay if the essays are strong? Thank you!

    @ohsnapucla,

    It really all depends on your original and supplemental application. Its hard to tell without knowing how well you wrote your supplement and just details about yourself. As far as the C goes, it might be dependent on your overall GPA and etc. I'm pretty sure UCLA doesn't want to see a straight A student getting a C their senior year but it might not be the case with your stats and school. I'd say it wont hurt it entirely so don't stress to much about it! I'm not sure if this helps but I've heard that if admitted, you need to contact UCLA about grades if you got more than 2 C's so I'm guessing one wont be so bad? We have a few weeks so just relax!

    Anyone get accepted with the (talent) supplemental questionnaire yet?
  • agreatperhaps13agreatperhaps13 Posts: 395Registered User Member
    I think all decisions come out March 21st. Why do you ask about the talent supplement?
  • bruin2018bruin2018 Posts: 63Registered User Junior Member
    I got the talent supplement and I was wondering if anyone got in with a supplement yet. I know some people have already received letters! @agreatperhaps13

    @bruin2018 This early? No way!!! I got the supplement, too. Man, I polished my essays until they were shinier than the fluorescence on a bald guy's head.

    I submitted a supplemental app for a NON Letters of Science school, they didn't ask me for my transcript. I'm not sure how they're going to see my grades. Has anyone who applied to a Non letters of science major, hear back yet?

    I know right!! Hahah same here! I'm hoping our responses are what they are looking for. Let me know if you get in and I'll hopefully see you there next year!
