| UCLAri, would you recommend a polisci/japanese double major? Or do you think a minor in Japanese is sufficient in terms of achieving fluency of the language?
I have heard minoring in a language is rigorous already, and I assume you would have a good idea of the workload and whatnot. |

| Bruintastic,
The only thing that the major will get you is another year of classes in classics. I don't know that it's going to necessarily help you with day-to-day fluency. For that, go abroad.
If you want a second major, however, then go for it! Just don't expect reading Japanese classics to really help you with reading your cell phone contract when you're at the DoCoMo shop... |

| Hmmm, thanks UCLAri. I was guessing it was something like that. Studying abroad sounds like a great idea...
For a political science major (IR concentration) and japanese minor, would you recommend the Intensive Language Program or the Global Studies program for strengthening my career path?
Also, do you know how lenient the EAP program is with cumulative GPA? By the time I apply (fall 07, as a sophomore), a 3.0 may not be possible for me.
T.I.A.! |

| Hmm...
What's your career path, exactly?
EAP is, as far as I know, pretty easy to convince as far as GPA is concerned. |

| It is easily Japan's top university. The only university I can think of that might be considered a serious competitor in Japan is Kyodai (Kyoto University.) |

| Keio is undoubtedly a good university, but I'd put it in a second tier, along with Waseda and maybe Osaka U. |
