someone mentioned something about getting a smoothie for a swipe, is it like 1 smoothie per swipe? or can you get a drink like that plus a sandwich

also, does anyone know the "conversions" from swipes into meals or where someone can see that?

just wondering hehe

Emmeline 05-07-2007 08:42 PM

It's one smoothie (flavored or Ice Blend[z] which is typically mocha/vanilla powder blended with milk and ice) per swipe @ Bruin Café.

You can get a sandwich with a bag of chips and soda for one swipe.
You can get a mocha latte/vanilla latte/regular latte/hot chocolate/whatever with a pastry for one swipe.

ah ok thanks

that smoothie per one swipe sounds like a rip off though =p lol

Yeah, it does. Apparently not an all-you-can-eat-per-swipe deal.

So, what happens if you run out of swipes before the quarter ends? I think I read elsewhere that you can't use cash at the res dining rooms on the hill. So do you just buy a set of meal tickets to last til the end of the quarter?

VTECaddict 05-07-2007 11:18 PM

this is why dont go crazy and use all your swipes before the quarter ends. if you plan on using more than 2 a day, get 19 premier.

but yes, if you run out, you have to pay the $7 or $10 or whatever it is per meal. might as well go eat out in westwood or order in. or bruin cafe takes cash.

are we allowed to change from 14 to 19 within the first month?

aznhyboi87 05-08-2007 12:49 AM

thank you so much. no need to make any more housing threads period! this should become a sticky

MrSpam 05-08-2007 12:57 AM

I agree for a sticky, at least until school starts.

sakura812 05-09-2007 12:24 AM

This is slightly off topic, but I don't want to start a new housing thread. Anyone know anything about co-ops? It's cheap, but how is the living quality? All I know is that you have to do chores (which i don't mind).

yes. i upgraded from 14p to 19p after a month, i had to pay a 25 dollar fine, but it was worth it considering i have to eat for a whole year. o yeah, they wont charge you for the meals you missed from upgrading..yeahh so thats good news.

Jasonx88 05-09-2007 07:54 PM

about co-op, a thread already exists:

so can meal swipes be at ackerman (the same as meal swipes at dining halls)?

what is a sack lunch and where do you get them?

dawritingmachine 08-01-2007 07:53 PM

for premiums, how long do the meals accumulate for?

UCLAri 08-01-2007 07:59 PM

This thread gets my vote for "best UCLA housing thread."

Oh, and a sticky.

VTECaddict 08-01-2007 09:17 PM

dawritingmachine,

no, meal swipes can only be used on the hill. ackerman takes bruin card (stored cash, not meal plan), cash, or credit card. sack lunches are obtained in the dining halls 7-9am. you bring your blue pepsi bag (it will be in your room when you move in) and tell them you want to get a sack lunch. they'll swipe you in and you go pack a sandwich. you can also goto the front desk and ask them to convert a swipe into a meal coupon worth like $2 that you can use in ackerman or other campus eateries (totally not worth it imo...)

premier rolls over meals until the last day of the quarter. after that, any swipes left over will be lost and you'll get a new allocation of meals at the start of the next quarter.
