Adding to the question about waitlists: how do they work? If someone drops the class, are you added into the class automatically if you're on the waitlist? What happens if you stay on the waitlist? Does that mean you don't get the class?

Thanks!

for the waitlist most people in top 5 gets in i think, as long as the class isn't completely packed the professor will let you in. the way it works is if someone drops you fill into the spot in the order on the waitlist, if you still on the waitlist by 2nd or 3rd week (not really sure, I was never on the waitlist for that long) you can ask the professor for a PTE number, if there is spots in the lecture he'll give you one and you can officially enroll with that number

really? that is odd because if you notice there is a waitlist for the lecture too, that number corresponds to the number of spots in the waitlist for all discussions combined, if you are on the waitlist for a discussion then you should be on the wait list for the lecture also... a lot of the times i see that lectures are not filled but a certain discussions are so on the registrar it always show that there are people on the waitlist even if the lecture wasn't full

^It happens because some classes hold off a discussion session. For LS2, more discussions opened up later during registration

i still dont understand how you can be enrolled in the lecture and wait listed in the discussion. usually youre not considered enrolled int he lecture until you are enrolled in a discussion.

if the class is full go talk to the professor and maybe he'll let you in on first day or first week...

Hello, I am an exchange student from NZ and want to get involved with some "extra curricular" musical activities while i am at UCLA. Does anyone know what there is available? I would be keen to sign up for the marching band or any bands that are available but i'm not sure how to find what is available and how to sign up. I play the drums. Time is running out!

Thanks

James
