mme-lin,

Oh, I agree that overall it's not a huge problem. It's just that when you get down to it, a 30 minute commute is 1 hour of your day spent commuting. Most college students are fortunate that they can afford it, but it should still be a consideration.

As for cooking... well... I hate doing the dishes. For me, dorm food, while bad, was better than washing dishes.

it's not that expensive, especially compared with the apartment rates in westwood. may be it's just me, but id rather live close to campus and get meals for a little more each quarter...that and i don't pay for anything, my parents thankfully cover it all...

agree with bruinboy.
i like the convenience of living within a close proximity to campus and the ability to forego a a fraction of my day cooking and cleaning.
i also cannot leave rendezvous bacon bagel sandwich. i tried to replicate it at home, but it does not have the same je ne sais quoi.

i'm addicted to the hill and hope (plan) to never leave during my time here

some westwood apartments are really nice like atrium court and midvale plaza. and so are many of the veteran ones. but a lot are old and falling apart.

i used to live in hedrick summit so i never really thought about how "close" it is to campus. I think my walk from the apartments now is easier/nicer than the walk from hedrick.

i'm in summit now... but sadly veteran actually WILL be further than this.
veteran, unlike summit, has a flat walk and a shuttle, however, so it's all good

i love the days when i can take northwest shuttle to summit, but my schedule hardly ever works out.
