| Are there a lot of upper classmen in Sproul? Or is it just mainly freshmen? Also, how many people are in themed housing there, compared to the rest of the residents? |

| i know that on my floor (7th, the highest on top) there are a lot of upper classmen because people want the view and the new hall but I think lower levels are quite open for freshmens... azngamer54, it is going to be better than the other halls because it is newly renovated... |

| Yeah i ended up getting my fourth choice.
I wanted double residence hall, then triple hall, then double plaza, then triple plaza but i ended up getting triple plaza at deneve. i really wanted a hall. is de neve really nice? i didn't visit it. sorry if this has already been asked.
is it really hard to meet people if you're in a plaza? |

| My son lived in De Neve the first year that it opened, 2002. He had a triple. He requested De Neve, but a double. Looking back after many years of various living arrangements, he says he would have chosen a res hall. Much more social and fun. De Neve is nice, but it really is just where the room is located and how social your floor is that determines the level of fun. If the room is closer to the center area where the elevators are, you can leave your door open and maybe meet some people. If you are wayyyy out on the ends, then you probably aren't going to get many visitors, unless you really are very active socially and invite people out to the boonies. Some floors just get more social people and some are like hotels with all of the doors shut.
If you end up in De Neve, then get out of your room and meet everybody. (With a triple, you are going to need to find a quiet place to study, anyway. That is how my son met his girlfriend. He had roommates who played video games and never went out except to go to class. He couldn't stand it so he was always out looking for people and fun!) |

| Adultparentmom: "If the room is closer to the center area where the elevators are, you can leave your door open and maybe meet some people." Is it really that private-like? My son is in Sunset Village and I wonder if the floor plan is similar to De Neve. Can anyone comment about Sunset Village? Thanks. |

| What building in sunset village is your son living in? All the 3 buildings have different setups (Courtside, Delta Terrance, and Canyon Point).
I lived in Courtside my freshman year and was glad it was so social, despite all the horror stories I heard about Sunset Village. No one really uses the elevators (unless you're moving in or moving out) because it's only 3 floors. Since it's 3 floors, you get a chance to meet people from all 3 floors since you'll be sharing lounges with them or just knocking on doors and visiting people.
The thing about Sunset Village is that you have the opportunity to choose your lifestyle: You can successfully study all day and not get bothered or you can also meet a lot of social people and have a lot of fun. You may be able to do either in res halls or other plazas, but it's a lot easier in sunset.
Also, I feel like Sunset Village has a really good location within the dorms

| collegemom92, what I mean by "nearer the center" is just that people have to walk by your room to get to the elevators, that is all. If you are way down at one end or the other then people just won't be walking by your room. My son found De Neve very "private-like", as you say, because the people on his floor the FIRST year were either in their rooms, or out. Very hotel-like. He also had two roommates who never wanted to so anything. Nothing. Video games all day and night. It drove him crazy. It isn't like he never had fun, he did, just not so much IN his room.
Res halls, by their nature are just more social. If you have to go down the hall to the bathroom you are going to meet people. Private bathrooms are nice, though.
De Neve is really nice, don't get me wrong. The rooms are air conditioned individually and have nice closet space. The area is very nice. Rooms are just crowded with three, but two would be ideal. It is just generally not as social as res halls, but it CAN be social if the people are the right mix.
You CAN have a blast in De Neve, just make the effort, and hope for fun roommates! |

| I saw the rooms with three in the room and it is very crowded. It's almost like they were packed in like a can of sardines. I suppose my son will appreciate his room/home when he comes back for vacations. Luckily, these kids are young and resilient and will adjust to their situation - I hope. |

| dude what do you need all that extra space for??? its not like you need room for dance parties or things like that, you sleep on your bed, study on your desk and go into hallway and lounge to meet people... its not like its small to a point that you have to share your bed with your roommate... we have a TV in our room and after some re arrangement (kept all the furniture still) we can have about 10 people watching a basketball game on TV with no problem as we sit on top and bottom beds |

| There's no interest between the different payment plans so just decide whether you want to deal with the small hassle of making a credit card payment online 3 or 9 times a year. |
