| GE cluster? Should I do the GE clusters? Are they worth it, or should I just take GE's randomly during my first 2 years?
P.S.
I'm thinking of taking chem14a, math31 or 3 this quarter...still not sure. |

| 1. look at what GEs your premed classes cover
2. look at the GE's you have left
3. figure out what clusters cover the GEs you need and if any sound interesting and are recommended
4. decide whether you want to just take care of GEs on your own instead of in a structured cluster
5. figure out if it's worth it to you to knock out your writing II/seminar requirement or do it on your own
6. listen to other pre-meds to see what they recommend cuz i'm not a premed xD |

| Premed requirements will cover the 4 science GEs. You'll only have to take 6 GE courses, and your Writing II. |

| In my two years at UCLA, I have yet to come across someone who enjoyed a GE cluster. |

| well, do you have any interest in the GE cluster topics (one that is NOT related to your intended major)?
if so, you can take it and see how you like it. then drop the cluster after 1st quarter if you hate it, or continue on if its bearable. |

| mannn i took that retarded, idiotic, purely waste of time cosmos cluster, with yahooo, and i admit it was horrible. one of the lecturers, tony friscia is a MORON. he has declared himself that he likes to grade student's research papers drunk...im glad he didnt grade my papers. but one of my buds had him as a grader, and he got a C- on his research paper, lol. the gradings are so random and its wutever they feel like giving you. altho i have to say, that cluster saved me a lot of time, 2 labs, 2 Phy. Sci. GEs, 1 LS GE, Writing II, and a Seminar. |

| ^ I second that. Grading is random. One of the professors gave me a 97 on a paper I worked on the last minute, while I struggled to just get a B on one of the papers the TA graded because she was offended by my paper about cloning or something. Lectures are also sleep inducing. That was the only class I could not stay awake for no matter how hard I tried. |

| eh, i wouldn't take the ge cluster. i've taken the cluster, and i've also taken random ge classes. i enjoyed the latter much more.
many people seem to be in a hurry to finish off those ge classes, but imo, ge classes aren't so bad if you know which ones to pick. some of them have even turned out to be my favorites. maybe i'm in the minority, but i've really enjoyed most of em. |

| well if anyone is gonna take the LA cluster next fall, please PM me cuz i have all the printouts from the computer you need plus most books. i don't wanna waste 'em! they may make u print out millions of pages for reading to bring to discussion...but i'll have that covered 4u.
btw, the LA cluster at first was overwhelming cuz i thought u hafta read everything in detail. BUT actually u can be successful and not really read... it was my GPA booster freshman year. the topics were interesting except for urban planning and transportation. |
