UCLA could be more popular to asian countries than UCB because Los Angeles is the world trade center. Foreign parents probably want their children to stay in LA to get familiar with the LA business community.

Actually Berkeley is more famous in Asia because of its engineering school...

^ nor do the public rankings or any other rankings.

Torrancecali/Premed4life are latching on to this one single world-based ranking when all the others show Cal is better. It is rather pitiful.

I am not saying that UCLA has better business program than Haas. I am guessing that asian business people wants to have some people in LA to make business connections. Haas excellence in business may not have anything to do with asian business people because they don't use US business models. It's the same reason for other asian students to go to USC. Most items on your shopping list now probably go through LA ports.

There are more Asian in NorCal, especially true of South Asians but of all Asians in general nonetheless.

They are both great schools, both equal, but the "equal" part is internationally very high, but a little different, depending on the major.

As a proud UCLA alum, with a son at Cal, I honestly appreciate both. I give kudos to Cal for many reasons, from their terrific Jeff Tedford and Bears Football to the outstanding business program at Haas to their many incredible programs and majors, including one of the few Forestry & Natural Resource majors offered. Cal is, in my opinion, quirkier than UCLA, and its students seem a little more unique.

I give kudos to UCLA also. First my husband and I went there and we met there. It's basketball team is fabulous, thank you John Wooden (and yes, I was there when he was there). North and South campus have programs that are equally impressive. While I hear that the Cal English Lit program is the best, I will argue the point. As an English major I had amazing professors who fought with me to challenge me in my major. I remain friends with the few that are still alive. I remember fondly those who are no longer with us, but who made a huge dent in who I am now.

I guess the real question is not which is "better", but rather what you expect to get out of a university -- for me, it was, as Tennyson wrote: to strive, to seek, to find, and not to yield. For that, UCLA, thank you!

Since when do rankings matter in the first place? If you ask me, your logic is stupid. Anyways, I have no relation to either school and I'd rather go to UCLA, so QFT.
