Where to go? Michigan v. UCLA (both biochem)

i felt that replies gonna be different for each forum, so i posted the same thing on the Michigan forum also.. IGNORE THIS THREAD IF YOU'VE READ IT ALREADY.. SRY..

Basically, I narrowed my choices down to Michigan and UCLA.
I'm planning on going to med school and I know that these two schools are almost at the same level academically.. (that's what makes me hard to choose between these two... )

I've lived in midwest for a long time and tired of monotonous life up here..
I want some changes in my life (like gong to CA!)
but then I heard that students don't study much in LA and spend time hang out w/ ppl
(obviously,, there's much more things to do in LA other than studying.. haha ;) )
i like to have social life too but if it's too much then.....:(

also, it's not a big concern, but i heard that CA is doing really bad economically...
i'm getting a lot of loans from ucla so... i wonder what effect it's gonna bring to me..

hmmmm.... other factors to consider....
i haven't done much research about UCLA yet but Michigan seems to have many great programs for science and engineering majors.

so my main factors are... campus life (housing, weather, activities, etc.) and pre-med programs (research, etc.)

i have no idea what campus life is like so if anybody visited either Michigan or UCLA (or both!!) any information would be helpful..

thanks!

We visited both campuses with my S who is also premed. Both are excellent academically (and you can't do well at UCLA lying around the pool all day, they actually study) so consider the tuition and campus life. U Mich is friendly, crazy for sports, cold in winter, parties plenty, nice campus. UCLA is more laid back than friendly, turns out for basketball but the Rose Bowl is a long drive away for football, hot in summer and fall, parties plenty, has the beach a short ride away, also a nice campus.
Look at the videos of each campus. LA has an active club scene. Ann Arbor is smaller. Both have good on-campus activities and decent dorms.
They are both terrific places--congrats on your admissions.

i was in ur dilemma for the past 2 wks, until now.
$ is an issue, UCLA wants 30k from me in loans,
    michigan 20k ,
    michigan engineering > UCLA's.
im going to michigan now---only because of the $$$$
