Lorena: Best thing about UC Merced, classes. Wost thing about UC Merced, lack of stuff to do on campus....off campus is a slightly different matter. |

Ummm, I think the number is between 25-30% I myself am not asian.
"hey morecowbell, how big is an average class size at merced?"
Umm, first off if you have gone to a tour here, DONT BELIEVE THEM when they say the avg. class size is 14 kids. 1/2 my classes have 120+ people in lecture, in discussions I would say I have around 15 people. |

| hello, i was planning on attending uc merced this fall and i have a few questions
1. are freshmen required to live on campus?
2. how are the dorms?
3. i've been considering computer science as a major and was wondering you had any opinion on it
4. any tips to incoming freshmen? |

| How hard is it to transfer from uc merced to a more prestigious uc like ucla, ucsd or uc davis? I plan on transfering from uc merced rather than a JC, would it be easier or harder? Is comp science difficult? |

1) Yes.
2) I would argue they are better than any other UC. I wouldnt be much of an argument, because its fact lol.
3) From what I know about it here at Merced, it is veryy difficult. But, thats just based on my room mates bit**** about it all the time LOL!
4) WOW, what a question yes I do have tips, tips that would help you PWN at this place, make it easier for you to be social etc. But i'll post them later, because there quite extensive

Correct me if I am wrong, but i believe last year you could apply all the way up to in the middle of March, so im pretty sure there giving them out still
Joshz: Its not very cumbersome at all, I would actually strongly sugest it. Just get a 3.5+ and UCLA/UCSD/UCB is all yours |

| But are you sure they'd accept? i mean do you know anyone that got accepted as a transfer from a brand new school?
I heard UCs are giving more priority to jr colleges than UCs |

| If you get a 3.5+ your in at UCSD. I know 3 people who have transfered to UCSD with a 3.2. UCLA/UCB it depends on your major more, lot harder actually, I only know one person who transfer to UCLA from merced...he had a 3.2 gpa.
The reason why I sugest it is this: COLLEGE EXPERIENCE. You wont get one at a CC living in your mothers basement. |

| I definitely agree with morecowbell about the college experience factor. You certainly miss that when you pick the JC route.
I do think that if you want to be considered as a Cal transfer, your going to want a 3.7+ to get in. Their average gpa for transfers is a 3.7. UCSD is a little bit lower than that, and Ucla is between the two. |
