Chances?

I'm considering UC Merced as a safety school. I love California, the school sounds nice (I'd like to visit soon). Just judging from their profile on the College Board site, I'd figure I have a good shot. I just want to have something to fall back on where I won't be miserable.

High school senior, Class of '09
SAT I: 670CR / 580M (I know...) / 680W
SAT IIs: 760 US History / 750 Spanish without Listening
APs: 4 APUSH / 4 AP English Lit / Taking AP Enviro in the spring

GPA: School doesn't calculate but I'd say 3.5-3.6
Rank: Again, school doesn't calculate
Grades: Bs freshman year, Bs sophomore year (partly due to my parents' divorce, was depressed for a good part of 2nd semester which affected my work), mostly As junior year (4 As 2 Bs), not sure yet for first quarter senior grades (Not too good, but I've been experiencing depression for a couple months which, again, has affected my work)

ECs
Participate in tech crew for various shows in addition to the tech theater program at school
Vice President of the school's Computer Club
Worked in tech crew and performed roles for a friend's amateur theater thing
Have about 120 hours of community service over two summers (before 11th and before 12th grade)
Have had a job since August of this year
Learning guitar (only for a few months, don't know if it's worth mentioning at all)

Location: Bethesda, MD
Race: Part white, part hispanic, immigrated from Argentina to the US. Spanish was my first language, but I think I speak English better
First-generation: Not sure. Neither of my parents attended in the US, and neither of them got degrees (although they both did attend some college). Would this classify as first generation?

Also, would the lack of Merced's accreditation affect me in terms of transferring? I know it doesn't matter for schools in the UC system, but how about other schools?

Cheers

You shouldn't worry about UCM not being accredited, they are getting there accedation very soon...

But i've heard a story from one of my professor's that told me, this one girl was applying to grad school, and they denied her acceptance due to the fact that UCM is not accredited and our Provos person at UCM personally called the university and told them they would not accept any of their students, to come to any UC... and so she got in!

The the UC system basically has ur back
