explorathon

any1 get invited to the explorathon thing at UCR? i'm interested in going but i'm not sure if by attending, i'm committing to UCR because if you look at the itinerery, the last thing it says is that they will see you next year, which basically means they you will attend their school which i might or might not do so some1 tell me if by attending the explorathon thing i am committing x.x

do you mean the discover ucr day? if so, no thats not committing yourself if you go, its just an orientation for you to get to know the school better and decide if you really want to go there.

no not the discover UCR day. i got a "packet", it was just poster paper folded in 1/2, that said after looking at 30k apps, they selected a few to attend this special event and i made the list. only 50 people are accepted and its a first come first serve thing. it has a list of what we're gonna do over 2 days, like doing group events, exploring the city of riverside, sleeping in pentland hills dorm, etc. but the last thing we're gonna do is 'Say good-bye to new friends, go home, but you’ll be back as a student for Fall 2008." so... are they assuming that we're gonna commit or is it an "attend this event and you're now one of us" thing?

No, everyone gets this opportunity. You are not committing yourself by going to it. It is merely UCR's way of trying to get serious students to see that the schools is a good school.
