| What Is My Chance at UCR?
just wondering if i have a chance of getting into a uc system. im most likely targetting UCM, UCR, and UCSC, because im pretty sure im a reach for the other schools. i am currently a senior. UCR is my top school since it's only like 10 minutes from home. lol, do i have a good shot there or no? any feedback will be appreciated
GPA: 3.69 (UC GPA)
SAT: 1550
SAT 2 - Math 2C: 520, US History: 540, Biology: 540
I played two years of JV soccer, and have around 50 hours of community service.
just wondering, am i a match for UCR based on my resume? I am an Asian male, FWIW.

Your SATs seem a bit low, but that GPA will for sure get you in, plus the JV makes you well rounded. Cool thing about UCR, you get into the college first, and then the major, meaning if you qualify for our campus then youre in! regardless of what major you want to go into. I would bump up the hours though, but that's just me.. someone with 500+ hours xD

You're fine man.
I had similar stats to you, and I was worried too (You have a higher GPA than me, but I had a higher test score)
As long as you're not taking classes like linguistics and intermediate algebra, you're good.

I got in with an SAT score of 1330 so I think you'll be fine, although I had like 250 hours of community service at a county hospital so I think it helped me out a bit.

UC's do not take race as a factor in admissions (supposedly)
if they did, there'd be about 10,000 people suing them (although affirmative action is ok, since it "promotes diversity")

sorry to bother you guys again, but i just researched online, and apparently the UC's are cutting freshman enrollment by 500 applicants? just a curious question, does anybody have a link, or know the number of people accepted to UCR last year? and if somebody would, could you please explain what that means for my chances, if any? do i still have a good chance to get accepted?

Sorry to tell you man but because of the recent budget cuts, all UC's are seriously cutting back big time. I know that last year's applicants were very few compared to other years; the standards are going up. I hate to break it to you but if I were you, I would seriously start applying for Cal States and community college instead of getting your hopes up for UCR. |

dont sweat it, honesty is best. what do you think my chances are though? my gpa and sat scores are close to the averages of the admits last year (gpa slightly higher, sat slightly lower).

my unweighted GPA was something along the lines of 3.01, but my SAT was 2260... So I was a bit different.
Dunno how exactly it'll work. I mean, you guys remember how UC Riverside sent all those acceptance emails to people who didn't apply? Even if the acceptance standards did go up, they still won't be relatively high
I had one friend with a 3.5 ish GPA and a 1200 on SAT, he got the unwarranted acceptance
