"UC Socially Dead"

that is my worst nightmare because I love to socialize, party, have fun, ect.

Is the nightlife at San Diego boring? it seems too chill.

Whats there to do in San Diego? how does it compare to somewhere liek NYC

like are there clubs and stuff? not that i go clubbing a lot but i'd like the option.

fun things to do?

good concerts?

What are the students like?

I mean i'm going to study hard but I like to blow off steam by having fun.

This is very important because Im chosing NYU poly or UCSD and NYU poly seems much more appealing lifestyle wise but UCSD is obvi the better school.

I believe that "UC Socially Dead" is just a label people casually slap onto the school. I went to Triton Day and EVERYONE seemed very sociable. Everyone was very friendly and they all seem like chill people who knows how to balance study and playtime.

hey! i'm gonna be a freshman at ucsd this fall 2012 and i'm a little worried about the socially dead tag as well since i love to party & be social. from what i hear however, ucsd will pretty much be what you make it in that there are great things to do, off and on campus, and plenty of opportunities to party if you want to. i think you just have to make the effort and i know i def will be.

UCSD is considered anti social because of the 50 percent of shy Asian students who study in their rooms all day long. Don't be shy and a study freak then you'll have fun. Get in with the fun party kids.

San Diego as a city is actually great for night life! However, you have to be 21 to access many parts of it. Still, there are a decent number of clubs and the sort for 18+.

I know tons of people who party, and constantly. I live in the Muir college apartments and I literally hear people partying every day. I also know people who never leave their rooms. That's the thing about college, it all depends on what you want to do. If you're a social person I can assure you you will find people who share the same interests as you.

But that being said SD isn't the type of school where parties are going to come knocking on your door. You will hear this from everyone, but BE PROACTIVE. Fortunately, that's going to be really easy during the first few weeks of school when nobody knows each other. And if all else fails, join a frat/sorority. I can guarantee you, all the Greek people I know are very social. Some are even as social as the ones in UCSB.

There are concerts on campus several times a week. You can check out the Loft or Porter's Pub. There are also tons of concerts in the San Diego area (but keep in mind UCSD is in La Jolla, not San Diego).

If you go to UCSD, go greek and you will have no problems with finding parties, social activities, etc.
