How are the science and arts classes/programs?

I was thinking of majoring in (marine)biology and minoring in art- photography, graphic or interior design.Eventhough I'm going to apply for 2013,I probably won't go til 2015 after going to cc with a transfer. I just want to know how the classes are like if its got a variety and quality.

ucsd's art program is the second best art program in the uc system behind ucla.

Both art programs are more conceptual on the spectrum of art programs. They focus more so on concept rather than on technical prowess. Not to say the programs still require significant technical skill, but in comparison to other programs at other universities, UCSD's and UCLA's art programs has a heavier focus on the conceptual side.

expect the program to have a lot of variety and freedom at the upper division of art classes. The lower division classes are your run of the mill foundational stuff.

In regards to the science classes, the topics you will learn for your major will be in essence the same you would learn at every accredited university. However, the quality in which you learn them at will be top notch, especially since you wish to major in marine biology.

Thanks I noticed Southern CA had more art options but I live in norcal so my mom wants me to stay close to home.Hopefully things will be just as good by the time I transfer. I'm considering Humboldt,Long Beach and San Diego state because a UC may be too much for me.
