Um, if you're doing any major because it's easy to get an A, you may want to reconsider.

^ lol
I heard econ is pretty easy, in general. Lots of people graduate in 3 years; 3.3+ GPA is not uncommon. If you want more of a challenge, go for the math-econ joint major. It should be more rewarding.

Based on some of the students we know, attending UCSD, everything is significantly harder, competitive and rapid, it doesn't go the other way.

I am more thinking along the line that if it is a really difficult and challenging school, you wouldn't have gotten in.

@ Warrenfreshman: LOL!

Hey chem warrior,
This is the closest I found to a listing of discipline vs. GPA. Someone posted it on a previous thread. It does not specify major unfortunately, but it will give you an idea I suppose?

Since you don't think we answered your 3 questions:

1. No, at least I don't. See link above. If you're still not satisfied, ask the Econ department yourself.

2. I already answered this, although you seem not to have noticed or cared for my answer.

3. Yes? How do you expect us to answer? We don't know how smart you are, how effective your study habits are, how tough your professors/classes are, how extenuating circumstances in your life affect your GPA, etc. I can only say that plenty of people have gotten a 4.0 taking 3 classes such that it isn't what I'd call "highly unlikely." That's really all you need to know. Why don't you focus on doing well once school starts instead of badgering us for answers we don't have. For what it's worth, I got a 4.0 first quarter with 4 classes.

I feel terrible for the readers of your admissions essays come application time.

No it is not an easy major. In fact you'll find it quite challenging once you get into econometrics. UCSD is one of the few campuses that require 3 quarters of it. Also be prepared to take 4/5 quarters of Calculus depending on whether you go into management science or the normal econ route.

1. No. Just google it or ask someone in the Econ department.

2. No, not really.

3. A 4.0 is always possible, but judging from your rudeness, your atrocious spelling and grammar (you are not texting, you are asking a question on a forum where the people helping you are volunteering their own free time), and the way you completely skimmed the answers you were given, instead of analyzing the information you were given, it's going to be an uphill battle for you.
