I have an urgent question regarding Webreg and Discussion section

So basically I am enrolled in BILD3 lecture but not any of the discussions and I remember that Webreg didn't ask me which discussion section I want. Now on my weekly planner I only have BILD3 lecture listed but not my discussion.

I am confused please help.

You'll sign up for discussion sections after the term starts. If you look at the enrollment stats on Tritonlink, you'll see that nobody else has signed up for section either.

This is weird. Why don't they just let students sign up for one of the discussion sections right away? I am also enrolled in MATH20B and I had to pick on discussion section.

Several departments do this so there's more flexibility for the students. In my immunology lecture, they ended up cancelling one section and making a new one at the same time as another because there was a high demand for that particular time slot.

This is done to help students, btw.

thanks so I just go to the normal lecture class first without having to worry about the discussion?

^ yeah.
for writing courses, you should go to the first section. for classes like BILD, CHEM, PHYS, etc. you don't need to. you only start going to section after you've had at least one lecture.

Usually the case, but I've TAed for professors who emailed the class before the first lecture and told those to go to section even if they hadn't been to lecture yet. (Trust me, I wasn't a fan of that either.)
