Hi everybody!
I'm currently enrolled at a community college and am choosing UCSD for my TAG application. I'm hoping to get in for Human Biology, but what I'm concerned with most right now is ranking the colleges on the app. Right now, I have my top 3 narrowed down to Muir, Revelle, and Sixth.
When I transfer, I will have close to 90 semester units, and I know the most UC's will take is about 60-70 and that any extra units will be applied as area credit. What that means is that I'll end up having to take some filler classes to round out my unit credit for my B.S. Because of this, I was thinking that Revelle would be great. It would help focus my extra units in more applied fields.
That being said, Muir is looking great because of how laid back it is. I feel like if I went to Muir, I would be able to finish my unit requirements in courses that would most interest me as opposed to being forced to take classes within specified areas.
And I really like that Sixth, while new, is small, relatively speaking. And I heard it has nice dorms too?
Basically, I was wondering if any of you could provide any insight, either as continuing students or transfer students who were in my position. Any and all help is greatly appreciated.

I guess it would be important to note that I have completed two semesters of Calculus, and will have completed 4 semesters of Biology, 2 semesters of General Chemistry, and 2 semesters of Organic Chemistry by the time I transfer. From what I've gathered, that would only leave the language requirement to complete for Revelle, and since I already took 3 years of Spanish in high school, that shouldn't be too difficult.
Also, I forgot to ask what housing is like at each of the schools? I guess I'm looking for something laid back but involved. Or, I guess least partiest (I don't do parties...)?

Muir, ERC and Revelle apartments are the best housing on campus imo. If I were you, I'd aim for Muir everything, both in housing and admissions.

Not sure why you'd even bother with sixth, it's isolated and it has old housing, plus its not really gonna do anything for your major... Revelle and Muir are good choices. In revelle, your right, you'd probably get more emphasis on your major. Muir is insignificantly closer to everything, more laid back, and more social. Just comes down to how important the social aspect is for you i guess

I thought you have to live at The Village if you are a transfer student. So I don't think dorm matters that much. If I were you I'd definitely choose Muir because of the GE's and I feel like Muir is just close to the center of the campus.

But, just in case guide yourself into the three colleges and decide whether the environment/food/route to classes/decor is the right for you and helps relieve stress.
Muir is I believe the center of the campus,which I believe is beneficial if you like to take small breaks and hit the streets again. Sixth is far but peaceful;its decor is very old.

This housing stuff is really confusing. I chose Muir as my first choice but I'm confused that I have to continue taking upper division ge as a transfer even though I completed my IGETC.

If you are a transfer from a CC you will be living in the village. Don't worry about dorms (just be sure that you choose the village EAST because the apartments are newer).

Honestly, as a transfer the only thing that should matter to you when choosing a college are the required college GEs (each college has different requirements for graduation). Do some research and find out what the specific courses are.
I'll get you started with ERC: You will need to take MMW21 and 22. They are History/Philosophy/Writing courses.

Note: The Village is located in the northernmost part of campus so be weary of choosing sixth college and having to walk like 25 minutes from your room to your college (ERC is the closest college to the Village).
