I got in UCSD social science (sixth college) and UIUCs (urbana champaign) business school (rank 12 on USNEWS).

which one should i attend? I'm probably going to do accounting at UIUC and Economy at UCSD, so which one would be better? which one gives more social mobility? how legitimate is UIUCs business school? I don't have the chance to visit because im goin on vacation this spring break, so please respond!!

I would vote UCSD but only because I know nothing about UIUC. And because I love Southern California. And it's becoming one of the hottest new schools and quickly rising in rankings and prestige. I would think UCSD would give more social mobility for this reason alone. And I love the beach.

but then again, I know nothing about UIUC.

(btw, i got accepted to the same college, and same major! but most definitely switching to a different major - I don't know what I was thinking, in fact i don't even remember putting down that major on my app)

UIUC is a better school...But, go with UCSD is you are California resident...

UCSD econ is VERY VERY theoretical, with less focus on the applied business aspects, and more on the maths and modelling. Accounting brings you straight into the business track...econ at UCSD may not. I'd email some advisors in both departments and check out the business forum for more info.

The department is very good, just maybe not what you're looking for.

ucsd econ is rated 10, if UIUC business scool is ranked 12, id prbly go to UIUC, just because theres probably a more traditional school environment, since they have division 1 teams n everything. but if you want perfect weather, not much school spirit, then the better choice would probably be sd.
