Contact your future roommates and coordinate with each other about who is bringing what (i.e. microwave, rice cooker, etc.) -- or you may end up with 2 or more of something you only need one of.
Also, get extra long bed sheets for dorm beds -- you can get them at K-Mart or Target.

Laptop, books, clothes, digital piano, guitar, cell phone, dictionary, family picture, sports goods, maybe a white board to organize myself, and uh.... cooking materials, like obmud01 said, I'll figure something out with my roommate.

As far as a fridge and microwave - it may be cheaper to just split with your roommate and rent. You'll get more info from the school as the summer goes on.

Its cheaper to just get a minifridge for 70 dollars than rent a crappy one for more than 2x the amount. I'm bringing a laptop, clothes, bedding, beanbag?, step stool, mirror, two posters, a skillet, a pot, gift card for starbucks, gift card for trader joes, bathing suit, clothes, surfboard, baskets from cost plus, hamper, cookbooks, mini library, and myself.

If you can find a decent fridge cheaper, then yes, just buy it.
Just to note, the ones the school rents out come with microwaves. |
