| about MUIR...
All I've heard so far is nice location and easy GEs. Can anyone expand on what life is like at Muir?
I found this in an old thread from 2004...
"I don't think it matters which res-hall you are in.
There are about 8 floors (the buildings are tall). The views are either of the center area, entrance to res-hall, or the street. There aren't any ocean views near Muir (at least I don't think). They said Marshall has the ocean views on the higher floors.
You get a bed, a desk, a chair, and a dresser.
The bathrooms are.. okay.
The showers have 2 parts. One partition opens into a TINY little changing area and then there is another partition leading to the actual shower.
The rooms are BLAH. The walls are glossy white cement walls shaped in a brick-like pattern. The carpet is dingy. I heard Muir has some of the worst Res-Halls...... "

I heard from a Muir graduate that Muir has really good ocean views... I'll probably be in ERC next year unless Berkeley or LA saves me

well you dont have to worry since both bulidings will be fixed up by the time you freshmen move in... tenya is getting fixed this summer and tioga was fixed this year... so carpets/furniture/elevators/ bathroom will be new but..theres nothing to do about the cement walls.. but its not too bad... only certain rooms get the nice ocean veiws since your room has to face west...
if you really really want i could send pictures ... but from what ive seen muir dorms are really really big even the triples have a lot of space compared to what ive seen at other colleges i love the reshalls =D

Pictures would be greatly appreciated. :]
Do the buildings really look old/beat up? And what's the cafeteria/dining like?

Tenaya doesn't face the beach and is not as tall as Tioga, so no it does not have a beach view.
The rooms are rather dreary with their prisonlike cement walls. And the buildings are kind of scary looking (you really have to see them in person). But the food is pretty good as far UCSD dining goes...

Yeah, Muir's dining area (Sierra Summit) IMO is one of the better dorm food places at UCSD...plus they have the smoothie thing (even though I never tried it). And I believe it's supposed to be one of the more "social" dorms? I don't know but it's just what I've heard.
