So I got rejected at UCLA and UCB..and I really want to major in Business. However, I don't think there's a business program at UCSD..or is there? BTW, I got into Muir - poli sci & international relations...is this the closest thing to business?

Or should I just not go to UCSD.. the other option would be Davis.. and I really don't want to go there..

Or should I change my major..
ahh I don't know! HELP pleasee.

Right now, Management Science would be your best bet for something close to business. The Rady School of Management does offer a limited selection of business courses for undergrads so you might want to look at that.

If you really want to major in business, why go to a school with out that major? If you want to major in business, do some research and find a school with a top program, don't just pick a school because it is a UC school.....if they don't have your major, how good of a fit is it really?

    ^Where else should he go?

UCSD might not have a 'business' major, nor is it known for business, but it is surely a top public university and taking any major related to business will give him good future prospects, whether he goes to grad school or joins a top firm.

Personally, I am going to major in Econ at UCSC, because I want to either go into business or law. Santa Cruz is not known for business either, but they have top professors and a beautiful campus. I chose UCSC over SDSU, which I assume is the college you have in mind, given your implying that he is going to UCSD just because it is a UC.

Going to a UC just because it is a UC isn't a bad idea actually, because the entire UC system is filled with superior professors and a broader range of more established programs.

I heard from a friend that UCSD will be opening up an actual "Business" minor either in Fall 08 or sometime in 09.

A good number of students go to college and change their major from what they initially chose. Considering that, it's important to look at the strength of other programs at the school. While UCSD does not have a business major (yet), it has a number of other programs that are quite strong.

Well I do know that SDSU is very well known for business, why dont you look into that college?

And I agree with whoever said that you shouldnt go to a UC just because it is a UC. You should look at colleges that excel in what you want to major in.
