i'm going to SD because of the same reason hotelmoscow. After taking those rejections and finding out who got in, I've been really disillusioned by UCLA and Cal. If UCLA is proud to welcome minorities with 2.0 GPA's (i'm not joking), then they can go right ahead. =)
@jasonlee- A lot of people I know got into Cal and turned it down to go to either LA or SD because they really didnt like the ambience.
man i live in san diego and i'm going to UCSD for 2 reasons: 1) i have no where else to go. 2) my parents won't let me join the marines (and i am being serious)

yea, I've seen plenty of minorities with 3.0s and lower than avg. SAT scores get in.
People, you need to be more enthusiastic about SD. stop thinking about UCLA and Cal. There's no doubt that they're great colleges, but UCSD is great too.
Its his choice to defend our country. And Anthony, if you're old enough to go to college its a good bet that you're old enough to sign the contract without parental consent. I would recommend you going to college first and then commissioning as an officer, you'll have a lot more opportunities after the military.
Oh and maelstrom, I talked to some health professionals and they told me you typically die when shot in the head.
